How Do I Earn Points?

Every time you use the card, you'll earn 2 points per dollar on net purchases at gas stations, major grocery stores and drugstores and 1 point per dollar on your other net purchases (purchases minus any credits or returns). Please note: Merchants don't always identify or bill transactions by the correct merchant category code, which could impact the amount of points you earn on purchases. The following items will not earn points: cash advances, transferred balances, any checks used to access your account, finance charges, fees of any kind, service charges, unauthorized charges and ATM transactions.

Will My Points Ever Expire?

Your points are yours for the life of the account - they won't expire. But if your account is closed, you'll lose any points you haven't redeemed.

Is There A Limit To The Amount Of Points I Can Earn?

There's no cap to the amount of points you can earn on purchases.

What Happens To My Points If I Pay Late?

If a late fee is charged to your account, you will lose any points applied to your rewards balance during the billing cycle containing the fee.

How Do I Redeem My Points?

You can redeem your points for cash, gift cards, experiential rewards, brand-name merchandise and more by visiting www.capitalone.com or calling the Rewards Center toll-free. The number of points required is based on the cost of the chosen reward. For example, you could get $25 in cash back for 5,000 points, redeem for a gift card worth $25 for 3,400 points or a gift card worth $100 for 10,000 points, or even redeem for great brand-name merchandise worth $100 for 13,500 points. Once approved, you can visit www.capitalone.com/pointsrewards to register your account and see a complete description of current redemption offers. Your account must be open and in good standing, which means it isn't past due, overlimit, fraudulent, restricted, part of a consumer credit counseling program or in a bankruptcy settlement.
